  1. Be sure to shred and trash away files that are not needed anymore to save space and de-clutter. Be careful in trashing files for you not to make mistakes.

  1. Make a list of the names or categories of your files. Encode them to your computer then print them. Better if you use colored papers in printing so as to easily recognize them according to color.

  1. Get your filling folders, binders, plastic label holders, scissors, pen, sticky papers, tape, staples, clips, and other supplies you might want to use for filling your documents.

  1. Start filling all your documents in each folder properly. Be sure to place recently added/attached documents in the front. Organizing them according to the most current date will help you access them easily and conveniently.

  1. Label your filling folders using your printed labels appropriately. Cut them down to size then either paste folder or attach them to the plastic label holder. Better if you toss your old folders already and replace them with new ones.

  1. Once you are done, go through your file cabinets, one at a time, and put in the new files properly according to usefulness and importance. Doing this will help you to grab and locate files you always use and need without hassle.

  1. Once all the documents are stored, label your filling cabinets according to your office/work files and personal/household files.
